Building Purpose, One Student at a Time
Building Purpose, One Student at a Time
Parents have the right to choose what’s best for their family and have their education tax dollars pay for the school that meets their child’s needs. Empowerment Scholarship Accounts (ESA) make that possible.
With the ESA program, the money that would pay for that student’s education in a neighborhood school follows that student to whichever school the parents choose for their child, including education at home.
ESA dollars cover multiple education expenses such as private school tuition, curricula, educational supplies, tutoring and more.

My Education Journey… so FAR!
I am currently a Freshman in High School. I have attended several types of schools, which included homeschool, Montessori, Charter and Micro-school - my mom wanted what she thought was best for me at different times of my life. When I was ready for high school, she gave me the choice of where I wanted to go. I researched several options and chose a public school near my home.
Switching over to a public school has given me opportunities to meet diverse people, and participate in extracurricular activities that weren’t as available in the other schools, like theater and student council. Being in high school makes me feel more challenged, which keeps me motivated to push myself further to better myself and learn more. I am so thankful for Black Mothers Forum Micro-school for making my transition to high school easy and helping me feel safe. It helped me stay focused on my purpose and education goals. Learning there was so much fun and exciting!
My teachers at BMF Micro-school were incredibly supportive. I started during COVD (I was actually the first student) and there were a lot of changes and challenges during that time. They made sure that I could learn in a way that made sense and didn't stress me out. They taught me to value hard work and dedication, which prepared me to adapt to the challenges of high school. The teachers there were dedicated to ensuring every student understood the material, often going out of their way to provide extra help or explanations when needed. They showed me the importance of mastering the basics, and not finding the easy way out. I love to research to make sure I know why something is the way it is. BMF Micro-schools were set up as small classes and our lessons were developed especially for each student. This allowed me to focus and develop good study habits, such as time management and organization, which have been incredibly helpful in high school.
Overall, being in the different types of schools were beneficial for the different times of my life. But the BMF Micro-school is what I needed then to prepare me for High School and future College life. I don’t know what will happen in the future but I know I am ready and I have support. I can always count on my BMF teachers, friends and family to support me.
